Rio de Janeiro

2014

Tom Jobim International Airport, formerly known as Rio de Janeiro International Airport, also known as Galeão Airport, is an international airport in the municipality of Rio de Janeiro, in Rio de Janeiro. It is the second largest airport in Brazil in international movement. Also considering the movement of domestic passengers, it is the country's seventh largest airport in movement. Currently, 26 airlines operate at Tom Jobim International Airport with routes connecting it to cities in the continents of Europe, Africa and North, Central and South America, in addition to domestic routes.

April 2, 2014 marked the beginning of the transition of operations at the Rio de Janeiro International Airport, from the public company Infraero to the concessionaire RIOgaleão. After signing the concession contract, the preparation stage took place, between the months of May and June 2014, with the delivery and approval of the airport's operational transfer plan to ANAC. The next stage of the transition took place in June and July, when Infraero continued to carry out all its activities, but was assisted by RIOgaleão, which took over in August 2014. In August 2014 the operation, maintenance and expansion activities were transferred from Infraero to RIOgaleão, which will invest around BRL 5 billion in infrastructure works and improvements in airport services over the 25 years of the concession, of which BRL 2 billion should be invested by the 2016 Olympic Games

in 2014 I was invited by IQS Engenharia to join the American company Louis Berger Group in carrying out the feasibility study for the transition of the airport concession.
